The Garden I

The First Photo is of various Amaranth growing and I do need to thin some out but as you can see they are already flowering.

The Next Two Photos are of my Greek Wild Peas, not first photo is of the pods on some plants and are getting quite large, the other is of some plants in another patch in flower stage, notice how beautiful the colors are if you compare them to most of your " common pea" varieties, they make great ornaments as well.

The Last photo is of a pumpkin that has really taken off in he heat it is about the size of a golf ball and is getting large very fast.....

The Garden II

the First photo is of my successful graft of a slower growing top to a faster growing rootstock, although it is hard to tell in the photo but the grafted cacti was smaller than a dime when first grafted back on May 30th and now it is larger than a quarter, thus it has grown about 2 years growth in just 2 months! !

The Second Photo is of an Intoxicated Bumble Bee who decided to just " sleep it off " during the night rather than risk Drinking and Flying....

The Last photo is of my Achora vine flowering and I can't wait for the fruits... this plant has grown about a foot a day recently with the heat....

Saturday July 19th I

Ok this post was a bit late...

The 1st photo is my salad mix harvested from my gardens comprising of... lettuce mix, amaranth leaves from a mix of strains, dill, nasturtium leaves, violet petals, radish flowers and seed pods, kale leaves, Egyptian walking onion stems and peppercini peppers I sprinkled rye cracker and cheese on top with chopped up pepperoni .

The last two photos are of a way to grow tomatoes as well as a way to save space, I came across this great invention several years ago in some garden magazine, now since then you found some inventor who started selling panted " growing bags" for everything from flowers and strawberries to tomato plants, although the grow bags are more " cosmetic " and pleasing to the eye than a bucket, however I still prefer this method as I can get the buckets for free and grow other crops on top as pictured here,,, I have Dill, Amaranth, Basil, and a Cabbage plant, in previous years I have successfully grown Zucchini Squash, Cucumbers, Broccoli, Beans, Carrots, as well as various flowers and vines.

Saturday July 19th 2008 Part II

1st photo is of one of my varieties of wild Petunias from South America that grew from some seeds that fell to the ground from Last year,

The 2nd photo is of squash/pumpkins,cukes, and melons that are not enjoying the cold nights at all and are now just starting to take off, now these were started indoors in pots, I have some others I planted from direct seed in the ground without the black mulch and are three times this size.

3rd photo is of my Peppercini Peppers that are ready for harvesting again, nothe the orange one that is over ripe that will serve as seed for future plantings.

4th photo is of the maiz patch of black seeded popcorn with varigated leaves. This Year the varigation is not as distinct as last year.

5th photo is a better shot of the leaves of the maiz, note the poppies and a few stray "wormwood" plants keeping the maiz company.

6th photo it's time to trim the Thyme again.

7th photo is of Tagetes Lucida and that too is due for some trimming.

Damn those Mosquitos

Last year was on the dry side but this year has been very wet and the fucking mosquitos are the size of ravens this year and out for blood, so if youré a vampyre, you have some competition this season...... James forced me to watch Office Space(the Bastage) this afternoon after his story about wannabe gangbangers,,,,,good thing they are just wannabe's as I just finished working on a house of some wannabe native mob fucks who were evicted because they shot up the neighbors house just because she told them to "go fuck off"and leave her cousin alone....so yeah this is the real thing here...no respect for life or property...but anyhow I did go back after the movie and finish transplanting those seedlings in an eariler photo,,, and managed to keep the pricks to a minimum this time, good thing Trichocereus Pachanoi and T. Peruviana are easy to work with while young, but once the peruvianas get older then watch out as they have very long sharp spines that hurt like hell. I also transplanted some Amaranth seedlings, some dill and some of my heirloom bean seeds, now its almost time for bed as I am beat......but never too tired to rock out for a while and I have 3 cd's that came in the mail today to review and if they cut the mustard to make the playlist for Radio Clandestino.

The Garden

Wild Petunia from Ecuador, this is 1 of 2 strains that all our F-1 Hybrids were born from folks, these plants are Not compact and tend to sprawl out, flowers can charge color also they can go from purple to a bluish then pinkish then white I have had all colors on the plant at the same time quite interesting.

This beautiful Tobacco is some test seed I received from the Uof M to trial although I am not one normally into F-1 Hybrids I must say the color is quite impressive, however it lacks the aroma of open pollinated varieties especially the sacred Alata I grow.

Toothache plant- the leaves used to numb the mouth as well as a mouthwash /antiseptic in the tropics of the Americas (Large Leaf on right from Naranjillia an Incan fruit similar to cape gooseberry and groundcherry from solanaceae)

Lulo an ancient Incan fruit quite similar to the tomato also from the Solanaceae unlike the tomato, this plant has spines as well as the fruit encased in a spiked husk.

King Tutt Purple Pod Pea, as legend has it, these were found in his tomb, some seeds were planted and the grew. What do YOU believe?
