The Day After

The Day after Thanksgiving and for some, the question is "What is there to give thanks for?" as for me I was thankful for being able to spend it with my son and family, then it was off to deliver a fresh pumpkin pie from home-grown pumpkins to some friends, we had good conversation, and my son enjoyed playing with their children, popping in for some pie and a visit was my friend's district Rep and our acting Chairman who was always good for a laugh and a few tall tales. Once Home I had to fix my son some Thanksgiving leftovers for his late dinner and then we played the Scooby Doo game for about an hour , then got our Spongebob video fix and headed off to bead with the melodic tunes of Los Carayos and Hot Pants ( what can I say my son is a Manu Chao Junkie) although he only lasted thru the first 3 Los Carayos songs and I about 5 or 6. As for today it was a wonderful warm day and I enjoyed a nice leisurely drive up the north shore, then off to the grocery store, ahh yes what a wonderful day for shopping, the grocery store was empty as though going shopping on a Tuesday night due to all the Christmas shoppers, guess the xmas frenzy is good for some things. But the traffic was nuts, and I can imagine what the stores were like, I seen parking lot after parking lot jammed full of cars and I wondered..."Did these people even celebrate thanksgiving? If so they obviously lost the meaning just as Christmas no longer means anything other than spend spend spend and charge charge charge. No wonder we are the most hated country in the world. But then life goes on, and so do taxes.

Friday Jamz

Another Friday is here and as some have to work I shall spend my day cleaning the house, go to town and do some grocery shopping while the masses of sheep fight their way around the department stores fighting over the last thneed on the shelf for the christmas rush. Perhaps I shall hit a few antique stores and maybe a spin up the Shore for some fresh smoked fish.

Lost In a Daze

Today was one of those days that didn't quite seem like a Sunday, it was one of those days that come from time to time that you just can't describe ..as if you were living a twilight zone moment is the best way to frame it. As evening moved in then it started to get the Sunday feel, after watching Charlie Brown Thanksgiving with the son, having dinner of baked stuffed pork chops, fresh melons and grapes, and potatoes, it was his music time and he wanted to watch Mano Negra where after a half an hour he drifted off to sleep with the sweet melodies of Manu and Company blazing from the TV. Now some web surfing after getting caught up on the usual depressing world news, high body count in Iraq as usual, Israel blowing up some more Palestinians, Rockets fired into Israel, ex Russian Spy poisoned, Russian Spy caught in Canada and they told us the "Cold War" was over, Nicaragua election, Secretary of Defense, Iran, hmmm

I Wanna FU*K The Dead

Ok no TSOL Song here, but a news story I was gonna post a few days ago but was slackin, I know I said it before but here goes again,
"It's in the cheese" I'm surprised it didn't make the odd news on yahoo. In other news it appears good ole King George is losing support wherever he goes, gets a snub from Viet Nam now S Korea says they won't honor his "inspection of all ships" heading to N Korea, perhaps finally the people are seeing the Emperor Wears No Clothes. And now even he is backing down on some of his harsh talk about Iran. Anyone willing to take a bet that Israel will make a strike before march?

The defence lawyer of a Wisconsin man charged with having sex with a dead deer is claiming he's innocent of any wrongdoing - because a "crimes against sexual morality" statute prohibits sex with animals, but fails to mention carcasses, The Duluth News Tribune reports.
Bryan James Hathaway, 20, of Superior, was arrested on "a misdemeanour charge of sexual gratification with an animal" after indulging in intercourse with said deceased deer on 11 October.

His attorney, public defender Fredric Anderson, last week filed a motion with a Douglas County court which argued "because the deer was dead, it was not considered an animal and the charge should be dismissed". He wrote: "The statute does not prohibit one from having sex with a carcass."
He further argued that, according to Webster's dictionary, an animal is "any of a kingdom of living beings". If you include carcasses in that definition, Anderson reasoned, "you really go down a slippery slope with absurd results".
Anderson demanded that a judge clarify "what the Legislature intended 'animal' to mean in the statute", insisting: "And the only clear point to draw the line in that definition, I believe, is the point of death."
Assistant district attorney James Boughner countered by saying that the court could indeed use a dictionary to determine the meaning of a word, but isn't obliged to do so. He told Judge Michael Lucci that "when a person's pet dog dies, the person still refers to the dog as his or her dog, not a carcass".
"It stays a dog for some time," Boughner added, noting that Hathaway himself had referred to the dead deer as exactly that, and not a carcass, when confronted by police.
Brougher concluded by stating the "statute was on punishing the human behaviour, not protecting animals".
"It does not seem to draw a line between the living and the dead," he noted. Interpreting the statue to exclude carcasses would, moreover, "also exclude freshly killed animals", Boughner insisted. This, in turn, "could lead to people who commit such acts with animals to kill them".
Boughner's latter point seems to be backed up by Hathaway's previous form, which saw him in April 2005 plead "no contest to one felony charge of mistreatment of an animal for the shooting death of Bambrick, a 26-year-old horse, to have sex with the animal".
Judge Lucci summed the matter up concisely with: "I'm a little surprised this issue hasn't been tackled before in another case." He then promised to render a decision before Hathaway's next court appearance on 1 December.
Hathaway faces a possible nine months' jail and a fine of up to $10,000 on the deer sex rap, but if convicted, "could serve a prison term of up to two years because of a previous conviction".

VOTE

Tomorrow IS the Big day, this time around, I'm gonna bite the big Blue Bullet and vote straight Democrat Party, I know, I know, how I have bashed the bluecoats, but at this point I am so sick of the Republikkkn shit that I feel one must fight the battle now in order to regroup and fight future battles before this country becomes a fascist-totalitarian state, and for those braindead Conservatives who still support king george and royalty, they NEED to go and reread their world history, especially the rise of Hitler and the third Reich, or read Brave New World or 1984, funny how the very supporters who bashed Slick Willie and afraid the government was getting too much power, seem to have no problemo giving away our rights and freedoms today with the patriot act, but if this were the presidential election, Ralph, YOU still would get MY vote again, after all there are some principles one can Never abandon.
And as for dictators, too bad there ARE NO U.S. Parties to stand trial and be sentenced to hang, after all, Saddam didn't receive his supplies and knowledge on his own, or from Just Europe, so will this be the beginning of WWIII? the catalyst of more 911's but on larger scale? only time shall tell

Back From The Dead

Climbing getting bit by the cold bug I finally climbed back from the dead, a tough weekend and week that Not Even a few shots could cure, Halloween was a bit tough and mighty nippy but my Son filled his pumpkin without complaints of the cold, as I stop to think I don't recall it being so cold out when I was a kid, but a few candy bars and excitement of free candy tends to blur one's memory. Then it was time to sit down and watch "The Great Pumpkin", my son laughed himself right out of the chair onto the floor when Snoopy was flying around in his dog house as a WWI Fighter, or Charlie Brown getting rocks in his bag. So now time to put away the decorations for another year, er in my son's case, a few months or weeks and put em back up, he just loves the Halloween decorations. Now it's time for that "cold one".
